Collaborative Action Research

In an effort to promote the most effective and  efficient  social  service programs, the Coalition conducts and supports scholarly research and evaluations in the areas of social and organizational psychology. Our
work includes:
· Power in Homeless Shelter Staff-Client Interactions
· Increasing the Academic and Occupational Expectations of
African American Male Probationers: An Action Research Proposal

Advocacy

Our National Homeless Bill of Rights designates "housing status" as a prohibited ground of discrimination, abuse, and harassment. This bill would develop a consumer-centered system of human rights-based principles and practices to ensure that educational, employment, and service programs are free from either conscious or inadvertent bias, discrimination, abuse, and harassment often levied against individuals and families experiencing homelessness at shelters, meal sites, public and private agencies, on the street.

Certification Program

Guided by our scholarly research and inspired by our advocacy efforts, our unique certification program goes beyond evaluating an organization's financial health or its programming goals to include the oft forgotten human elements. Ergo, Coalition Certified programs must also meet high quality standards in its staff-client interactions and overall client experience. Levels include:
  • Honorable        (*)
  • Recommended (**)
  • Recognized      (***)
  • Exemplary        (****)
  • Best-in-Class    (*****)                   Get Certified >>
